After a series of obsessively over-laboured and ultimately unreleased projects, Himalayan Pink began as an effort to get out of creativity’s way. Close friends and collaborators for over a decade, songwriter David Johnstone and multi-instrumentalist Bjorn Kriel started recording demos with saxophonist David Hodgson in early 2021 and within weeks released their debut EP, Permanent Vacation. In 2023, the band happily welcomed bassist Adrian Russouw and drummer Ambrose Veno. Blending tongue-in-cheek charisma, fortune cookie philosophy, and the poetry of Eros with the soundscapes of psychedelia, folk, and early rock ’n’ roll, Himalayan Pink will be sure to melt your heart.

Carolina Lopez is a 22 year old musician from Toronto who writes in a style she likes to call FOLKTRONICA. Her music mixes heartfelt, rhyme-ridden lyrics with layered finger-picked guitars and a ton of interesting textures. Big Thief, Björk, Bon Iver, Radiohead, and Sufjan Stevens are some of the iconic musicians that have shaped her writing and guitar playing. Carolina has been slowly integrating herself in the indie scene for the last year, playing at venues such as The Tranzac, Bar Orwell, The Emmet Ray, Handlebar, and even the Aga Khan Museum. Her debut EP “to me, you are always beautiful” is set to release in the fall of 2024.
